IGBC Green Telangana Summit 2026 Focuses on Net-Zero Buildings and Sustainable Urban Development

Hyderabad: Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, architects, urban planners and sustainability experts, the CII Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) hosted the 2nd Edition of the IGBC Green Telangana Summit 2026 in Hyderabad on Friday.

The summit, held under the theme “Smart, Green & Net Zero: Transforming Telangana’s Built Environment Together,” served as a platform for discussions on sustainable construction practices, climate-responsive urban planning, net-zero buildings and the integration of smart technologies to accelerate Telangana’s transition towards a low-carbon and resilient built environment.

Focus on Sustainable Cities and Green Buildings

The day-long programme featured plenary discussions, industry panels and technical sessions where experts deliberated on global best practices, policy frameworks and innovative technologies shaping the future of sustainable cities.

Participants discussed strategies to promote energy-efficient buildings, green infrastructure and sustainable urban development, while emphasising the importance of collaboration between government, industry and urban planners to address climate challenges.

Global and Industry Leaders Attend Summit

The inaugural session of the summit was attended by several prominent leaders and experts from the sustainability and construction sectors.

Among the dignitaries present were Matt Meyer, Governor of the State of Delaware, USA; Bill McQuade, President of ASHRAE; C. Shekar Reddy, National Chairman of IGBC; Vijay Sai Meka, President of NAREDCO Telangana; Srinivas Murthy, Chairman of IGBC Hyderabad Chapter; and M. Anand, Deputy Executive Director of IGBC.

Speakers highlighted the growing importance of green buildings and smart urban planning in addressing climate change while ensuring sustainable economic growth.

Accelerating Telangana’s Green Transition

The summit emphasised the need to accelerate Telangana’s transition toward net-zero buildings and sustainable infrastructure, with stakeholders sharing insights on technological innovations and policy support required to achieve climate goals.

Experts noted that adopting green building practices and smart technologies can significantly reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and create healthier urban spaces.

The IGBC Green Telangana Summit 2026 aimed to strengthen collaboration between government bodies, industry stakeholders and sustainability experts to drive the state’s vision of building environmentally responsible and future-ready cities.
