Modi’s Bastar Speech: A Narrative of Reform and Cultural Assertion

Date:

In a recent rally in Bastar, Chhattisgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a speech that was both a denunciation of past corruption and a celebration of India’s cultural heritage.

Modi accused the Congress party of having a legacy of corruption, claiming that his government has put an end to their ‘loot license’ since coming to power in 2014. He emphasized that this change was made possible by the mandate of the Indian people.

The Prime Minister also spoke of the Indian populace as his ‘raksha kavach’—his protective shield against the opposition’s criticism. He addressed the controversy over the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, criticizing the Congress for boycotting the temple’s idol consecration event and accusing them of appeasement politics.

As the Lok Sabha elections approach, Modi’s speech in Bastar is seen as a strategic effort to reinforce the BJP’s commitment to a corruption-free government and to uphold India’s cultural values.
